Australia to filter Intarwebs

Our pal hoochiebagoochie (not his real name) may not be able to get his porn and violence after the Australian government begins filtering pipes that run under the ocean to Australia.

The Aussies have manufactured a high tech mesh filter which will catch any soiled and nasty bytes such as those from porn sites.

Here and I thought the fiber-optic cables were already sheathed in rubber. Isn't that 98% effective?

Apparently there will be an 'opt out' system so that you can call your ISP and tell them to give you unfiltered access. Seems to me it should be more of an opt in system.
