This is the worst study I have ever seen!

It isn't controlledi n any what whatsoever. Let's face it, people who leave it until the last minute are very different peopel than those who have no life do their work and are ucked up by 10.30 every evening. So of course the more prepared ones are goign to do better. We don't need a study to tell us working diligently and not drinking will make you do better.

Basically the prof. has completely missed the point, its not if those who sleep do better, it is given you have left it late, are you better off studying then sleeping, or cramming until late. The only way to find out which strategy is best is a randomised controlled trial. That way peopel get allocated to one of two groups before an exam, and then we see which strategy works best - cram or sleep. Problem is how do you arrange that, and fund it!

I'd just wonder how this correlates into students that don't do the traditional M-Th, 8-whenever school schedule.

I know I took mostly evening classes when I was in school.

Good points AC. Though I didn't cram I was diligent and almost never skipped classes.

All nighters worked for me because that was the first time I was reading the material.

I did very average in college until I had an internship and realized that some of the shit they were teaching me had real life applications. I had one quarter left after my internship so the paradigm shift came a little too late for me.

I never did well with all nighters for tests. I'd always be too freaking tired to remember the stuff spent all night reading.

When it came to writing papers... I did all my best work at about 4:30 in the morning.

I always has all nighters before tests and exams and I did just fine. I guess it depends on how much of a visual learner you are.

About halfway through school I figured out that I actually spent less time studying if I just went to every class and didn't miss info that I had to catch up on later. And my rate of allnighters did go down. I think as the AC says that needing to pull all nighters is more of a reflection on what sort of student you are in the first place.
