Why does listening to music have to be this difficult?

I waited with much anticipation for the arrival of my very own box of sheer wonderful, the iPod. I have listened to idiot after idiot go on about how getting their iPod was a life changing experience. I dreamed of the day when I too could experience this sheer bliss. Oh how I looked forward to the days of spontaneous dance recitals, and my heart would leap with joy, and Gap would be calling me up to be in their commercials. I would be so cool that it would want to dress like a homeless person, and when I dance, oh baby, glowing lights will shoot out of my ass.
Well let me tell you, this didn't feel nothing like bliss. In fact, the only thing it felt like was a pain in the ass. I am a relatively intelligent person, in fact, let me be a real bitch. I have a little more upstairs than most. I pride myself on my ability to help others that are too stupid to do things just like this. It is a good thing this PIECE OF CRAP was something I won as a freebie, because I wouldn't have paid for this sort of irritation. I digress...
I open the box, put the disk in the computer, open the book and read the directions. (Logically this what you do, right?) Well, I should have stopped right here. I should have thrown the directions away along with the disk because they were both useless. (Along with these gigantic apple stickers...what am I supposed to do with these? They won't fit on the device. OH, I get it, I stick your greasy advertising all over my car and my notebooks and anything else visible to others so we can spread the word that I am an idiot!) After running the disk, it told me that the version of iTunes was too old to use with my iPod, please upgrade to a newer version of iTunes.
Well now that I have what i think is the right version of iTunes, I format my iPod. Or so I thought. Well the disk I have comes with the iPod software and updater. Hm. It says that my software on my iPod is out of date, use updater. Ok. I click on updater. Updater doesn't support MY iPod. (tHeN wHy tHE hELL IS it IN tHe BOX!!!!!!) Nice.
Go back to website. Read. Tap foot. Read. Attempt to move music to iPod. I think I have it. Cross fingers. So, I plug in the headphones. And are sunshine and rainbows flying out of this thing? Hell no! Get pissed off. Take more adderall.
Go back to website. Read more. Start all over. Uninstall everything. Wipe out iPod. Install iTunes from website. Throw disk and manual in garbage. Plug in iPod. Use iTunes to update iPod. Spend hour and a half trying to figure out how to move music to iPod.
I wasted 7 hours of my life when a cheap ass little mp3 player that my friend has does it better. And I think he only paid $20 for it.
Step 1- Plug in to USB
Step 2 -Drag and Drop MP3
Step 3- Press PLAY!!!
Would any of you Apple heads care to explain it to me like I am a friggin idiot? I don't understand it. Why make something hard for no apparent reason? What is so great? Why is it so wonderful? Why all the talk and the hype? Why the F#%K is everyone always talking about this crap ALL the time. My phone does the same thing. Once I figure out how to plug the phone into the car, I will throw this little-happy-white-wonderful-lovely-hunk-of-nothing-but-hype just where I put it's useless little disk and pointless manual. File 13.
