There is a new service for purchasing DVDs for CHEAP! Look for Peerflix.com [
link]
This company (which I belive is owned by NetFlicks) will give you envelopes to send in your old or unwanted DVDs. You create a list of desired DVD's on the web site and they send you what you want for .99 and a .32 stamp as a trade.
Sounds pretty good. I'd like to know what the catch is. I'm sure you do not get the DVD case, only a paper sleeve. And I wonder how many of these DVDs are actually NetFlicks rejects that are almost at the end of their productive use. I love my NetFlicks subscription, but I have received 3 damaged DVDs that I needed to return. (I thought the Day After Tomorrow was damaged, but it turned out it was just a crappy movie.) What does NetFlicks do with these damaged DVDs? I bet they run them through their scratch remover and send them on to their PeerFlicks customers.
But hey, it is an awesome idea. What else were they going to do with the damaged DVDs? Put them in the same landfill in New Mexico with all the Atari E.T. cartridges? Hell no. Make some money.
As long as PeerFlicks return policy is VERY lenient (which it is) this sounds like a good opportunity for folks who actually like the movie rather than the one who marvel at pretty box that sit on their shelf.
