Here's the scoop: Apparently supporters of Bin Laden decided to make a collage of photos of him. The Bert photo though, came from an obvious parody. Oops...

It will be interesting to see if this Prof. is just blowing smoke ,(to get his computer back) or if the laptop actually contains the info he claims.

*sigh* Its sad to see biology proffessors stoop to this level of nerdyness. But pretty funny to know the class full of pre-med wannabees is even nerdier than him and probably fell for it hook line and sinker. And I suppose it did have a chance of working, if some groups on the internet actually thought those threats were real.
Why couldn't he have left it at simply stating that stealing the laptop put sensitive data in possible circulation, and that alone was a major crime? It really falls apart when he says the thief needs to prove they didn't corrupt the data. It falls apart in a bunch of other places too. Couldn't he have run the story by some colleagues or something first. It could have been brilliant.

Well I hope he didn't get his laptop back. That would mean that his students were dumb enough to fall for his lines of crap. I mean MSFT calling him in 15 minutes, my ass..... Yeah they call everyone that tries to install 2 copies of the same software on 2 diff computers, they have plenty of time to do this.

Agreed with post above though, it was semi-close to believable, he just needed to check some facts first, then it would have been awesome.

All laptops should have a Lojack detection system built in. No need for threats just move on the unit with a swat team and send the crooks to jail

He made it all up.LOL He deserves a standing ovation for that story or at least a free laptop from Gates and Co. Maybe the movie industry could use his creative talents to make their movies a little more interesting

I'm actually rather surprised that none of the various alphabet soup agencies whose names he blasphemed haven't descended from Washington upon fiery chariots to smite him. I know, at the very least, the FBI gets very pissy about having their name taken in vain. . .

I'm still chuckling about this. Profs are the best. I admire his attempt at trying anyway, it was worth a shot.
