Where else but in California would a convenience story robbery turn into a vigilante justice scene from a Hollywood movie?

Two 7-11 clerks in Desert Hot Springs turned the tables on a would-be robber when he entered the store with a loaded rifle and demanded money. The clerks, however, had no intention of being robbed. Instead, one held the suspect from behind while the other pried the shotgun loose. He then began hitting the suspect with the weapon.

The incident lasted more than two minutes before the suspect was able to get away on foot. He has not been apprehended. [link] (bottom of page)
