According to a recent study, a third of people surveyed in the UK don't know where Jesus was supposedly born (I heard it was Birmingham). [link] Could you imagine the national chaos this would cause if Bush was running the country? ...oh
A) Secularization has always been more popular in Europe outside of a few enclaves (Spain, at least until fairly recently).
B) The survey data shows that a large majority of people who identify themselves as non-Christian were able to answer the questions.
C) A fair amount of people who identified themselves as "Christians" answered incorrectly as well.
There are also questions regarding how the data was collected, etc.
I imagine the results would be similar to this in the US.
The only other useful tidbit in this post is the general "I hate Bush!" nonsense that Americans hear all over the globe. Yes, we know you do. Does America really, truly care, though? Not really. And it would continue regardless of who was the president of the US.
Don't like it? Try to get an Anti-US party into parliament.
That's good. The mentality of "we don't care what you think nanny nanny boo boo." That's certainly a way to keep our relations with the international community..
The present British government doesn't seem to have much of a problem with present US foreign policy...
If he's that eager to make a dent in US policy, as many British are, then it's time for them to elect a party that will actually make a dent. The Spaniards did it (arguably under some duress), so why not the Brits?
And, as someone who has spent a fair amount of time out of the country, I'm quite tired of the old "It's all America's fault, they own the world, so they should clean it up" argument. Everyone hates the US, but also willingly says they're under the control of the US. That's not a very good mindset if you ask me.
This is but the final touch on the demise of the great British era of good christian values and world domination. Well the empire is long gone but the character that built it is but fastly declining - not to long before Britain becomes a pushover country like France.
