They are having to keep her away from pretty much everyone as there are a lot of people with the "Texas mindset" of "She needs killin"

In circumstances like these, I think that's more of a human mindset than a Texas one. Not to worry.....she won't last a month in prison.

Yes, the story gives me that horrid feeling in the pit of my stomach, I hope she gets the death penalty. That poor baby. She was in pain and killed by someone she trusted, the last moments of her life were probably helacious. That poor child.

Personally I hope that she lives a nice, long life, forced to look at pictures of what she did to her own child. Perhaps at some time in her sad life she'll actually feel regret. More then likelly night, but keeping her alive to remember what she did is a much, much crueler punishment.

That's so typical... Why is it that humans feel the need to inflict greater pain on someone they deem as evil?

No... living a long life is a blessing. She should be put to death. Even Steven.

It's a fact of life. Some people just gotta suffer...it might as well be the evil ones.

Do you think someone who cuts her child's arms off isn't "evil"?

Granted, she very well could have been completely insane (she has a history of mental illness issues), but I think it's fair to say that her actions are without a doubt evil.

This woman needs to either receive a severe punishment or be institutionalized for a long, long time.

Aside from the fact that there was a hymn playing in the background, I haven't seen anything indicating she was motivated by religious beliefs. More likely just an evil, depressed, self-pitying cunt looking for attention.

Once again, child protective services... well... doesn't. They knew something was wrong with this nutjob, and did nothing. Texans must be so proud their tax dollars are so hard at work.

I listened to the 911 transcript, and there was no emotion or regret in her voice- though she obviously knew she did something wrong, otherwise she wouldn't have called 911. Hopefully she gets a ride on Old Sparky before she gets a chance to breed again.

The only question is whether the father deserves to breed again- he knew better than anyone that his wife was a wacko- the fact he called the cops says he suspected something- yet chose to leave her alone with his daughter.

Looks like she may have been a relious nut after all... though kooks like her always find some excuse- religious or otherwise.

What is this word "evil"? It is in the view of the person saying it ... there was a time when a black man bedding a white woman was consider evil and heinous (but is this wrong) and some people still think that way.

What this woman did was very much psychotic - I find it interesting that Texas seems to have a lot of these incidents of mothers who suffer post partum depression killing their children. Wonder what it has to say about Texas culture?

Personally I think she needs counselling but executing her won't do any good. What the system needs to do is figure why she did and try to prevent it from happening again. As for her she still needs to pay for her crime, I bet a 25 year maximum security prison should do well. Personally I don't believe in the execution of people, who is the state to decide who lives and who dies. God or some supreme being can do that but for mere humans it is better to punish in a "civilized" manner rather than engaging in the barbaric practise of executions.

You think joking about a child with severed arms is funny .... you are even worse than the person who did it.

Gotta give you a hand for that comment. Usually I would point the finger at you, but I don't know if you have loaded arms at home, so I won't shoulder that burden.

Not if she's forced to face up to what she did. The anguish of having mutilated her own child is a just punishment.

I will never understand why people feel this way. How is continuing to live WORSE than death? How?

"Oh, every day she will live in torment, remembering her horrible deed." The key word in that is "live." Once you are dead, that's it. And if you believe in Hell, this would be the ultimate punishment. How many criminals in jails say that they are innocent? Over time, criminals develop mental callouses. Over time the pain of what she did will pass. And then what?

The only way I would allow her to live is if our fine government could come up with an injection that would put her into a coma. Her entire life would be spent on a gurney shitting her gown. Every five years, we would wake her up and let her look in the mirror. That's the only living punishment I see fit for this kind of murder.
