Maps of US Nuclear Targets by State

These are old (1990) FEMA maps of nuclear targets in the United States, organized by state. If you live in Southwestern Oregon, near Eugene, you are in the safest area in the United States in the event of a nuclear war. Other relatively safe states include Vermont, New Hampshire, Minnesota, Mississippi, Kansas, Arkansas, Iowa, Arizona, and Idaho. Tinfoil hat alert: the New Mexico map is unavailable. i was poking around and looked at their "hardened targets" like Missouri [link]

Damn... reminds me of becoming a teen in the 80's. Nothing like "Red Dawn" and "The Day After" to prepare a young boy for his political career. Of course, all the Wham! and Depeche Mode really evens out the peaks and valleys.

so this basically just tells us all what we already knew or thought we knew then i guess.
its kinda cool havin all the maps, but there should be a full usa map, i'd put it in my locker, im just not sure why

After we were forced to watch "The Day After" in science class, I was truly traumatized. I slept in the hallway next to my parents bedroom. (i have no idea why)
I was plaqued by nightmares that I was going to be nuked and fried in my sleep.

Can you believe that we HAD to watch that? Was anyone else subjected to this?
