In California, two jars of Gerber baby food tested positive for ricin, the highly toxic by product of producing castor oil from castor beans. [link] The authorities were notified after the people found notes in the baby food claiming they had been poisoned.

It was just a "proof of concept", the perp obviously didn't intend to hurt anyone or they wouldn't have included the note.
