it'd be just as easy and more cost effective to send a single unit carrying a payload of replicating nanobots that could molecularly disassemble or deseminate the comet and then self destruct. this madmen idea sounds like another great way for the government to waste billions of our tax dollars on a crackpot scheme that has no hope ever being practical, and has no other meaning full aplication than to foster paranoia and funnle obscene ammounts of money into the military-industrial complex, a la "star wars"

If a large asteroid was really headed toward Earth , time would be better spent building large underground shelters or standing outside with our baseball mitts in our hands because frankly either would just as feasibile.
