It makes you wonder what goes on normally with intelligence and politics. I mean, if this is the usual cockups that go on, how come we haven't all been blowed up already?
Presumably the intelligence services know something. I guess the only explaination is that the governments aren't the ones in control.
Probably the illuminati or some such.
Time to become a Catholic priest and join Opus Dei, or a jew, or the WFP or the UN or the Montana Militia...
And no, contrary to popular thought, I haven't done this before. Last time I voted Republican instead.
Here are only a few paragraphs I will correct off this website.
Wilson deeply embarrassed almost every senior member of the Bush junta by proving to the world that they were consciously lying about one of their most important justifications for invading Iraq: namely, their claim to have had certain knowledge, based on "good and reliable" intelligence, that Hussein was on the brink of deploying a nuclear weapon, possibly inside the United States.
I have never heard anyone in the administration say this.
was eventually disclosed that the "intelligence" possessed by the administration was a set of poorly forged documents on letterhead from the government of Niger, which described attempts by Iraq to purchase yellowcake uranium for a nuclear weapons program.
The information was given to us by France and produced by the Italian intelligence services, if I remember correctly. But, nice try in trying to defect the blame onto our own administration. The article only cursorily admits this fact through quotes from other newspapers. How Italy first obtained this document is speculation. As the article says, a UN investigation concludes it likely was produced by someone was looking for a quick buck.
It has since been established by Scott Ritter and others that Iraq's nuclear weapons program had been dead in the water and non-functioning since the first Iraq war.
Recently, Libya professed invovlement in an international program to develop a "Moslem" nuclear weapon of which Iraq was a part.
Now, thats just really on the first section. I don't have time to look at the whole thing right now. Maybe I'll turn it over later.
