I will buy a spray-painted, save-the-whale-bumper-stickered 1970s VW Bug and drive myself naked to my local polling station in November, at which time I will step out and loudly proclaim my intentions to vote for the Green Party while running into the building and performing lewd acts in a public voting booth that would shortly thereafter earn me a jail term.

And no, contrary to popular thought, I haven't done this before. Last time I voted Republican instead.

Here are only a few paragraphs I will correct off this website.

Wilson deeply embarrassed almost every senior member of the Bush junta by proving to the world that they were consciously lying about one of their most important justifications for invading Iraq: namely, their claim to have had certain knowledge, based on "good and reliable" intelligence, that Hussein was on the brink of deploying a nuclear weapon, possibly inside the United States.

I have never heard anyone in the administration say this.

was eventually disclosed that the "intelligence" possessed by the administration was a set of poorly forged documents on letterhead from the government of Niger, which described attempts by Iraq to purchase yellowcake uranium for a nuclear weapons program.

The information was given to us by France and produced by the Italian intelligence services, if I remember correctly. But, nice try in trying to defect the blame onto our own administration. The article only cursorily admits this fact through quotes from other newspapers. How Italy first obtained this document is speculation. As the article says, a UN investigation concludes it likely was produced by someone was looking for a quick buck.

It has since been established by Scott Ritter and others that Iraq's nuclear weapons program had been dead in the water and non-functioning since the first Iraq war.

Recently, Libya professed invovlement in an international program to develop a "Moslem" nuclear weapon of which Iraq was a part.

Now, thats just really on the first section. I don't have time to look at the whole thing right now. Maybe I'll turn it over later.

Frankly the more I hear, the more I despair. Looking at the international scene, both the British and Australian governments have been implicated in scandals of "shaping" intelligence reports on Iraq for political ends.

It makes you wonder what goes on normally with intelligence and politics. I mean, if this is the usual cockups that go on, how come we haven't all been blowed up already?

Presumably the intelligence services know something. I guess the only explaination is that the governments aren't the ones in control.

Probably the illuminati or some such.

Or the League of Extraordinary Gentleman. Yeah, it has been feeling like we collectively stepped through the looking glass these last few years.

Personally, I have to believe parts of this story; the Nigerian yellowcake thing was a little too specific to be a complete snow-job. And if it isn't true, then what's going on?

The only thing we can be sure of is that we haven't been told everything. But which way is that withheld truth gonna fall?

The premise of most of the article in question is Amb. Joe Wilson and his wife and the conspiracy theory that somehow there is a connection to... oh my God, the corrupt President.

This guy has since that time been proven to be a liar. He lied about the Uranium cakes and the fact that Iraq was trying to buy them from Niger. For all we know, he had the papers made to frame the administration. I mean, I would seriously be pi$$ed about the leak thing with his wife. The press didn't really explain that well. She was using her real name under cover because she was so good. So everyone she had come in contact with was suspect by anyone who was doind illegal crap. Not only her life was in danger but thousands of others. This was a very serious leak. And yes it was a National Security problem, but he didn't have to make another National Security problem by lying about the Iraq/Niger connection. $50 says his prints are on the forged documents and the money those forgers are spending on the beach in the south of France.

Here's the links to the articles about Wilson lying. The first was [link] the UK
The [link] second from AP. The third from the Washington Post. [link]

The best quote is from the WAPO article
Former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV, dispatched by the CIA in February 2002 to investigate reports that Iraq sought to reconstitute its nuclear weapons program with uranium from Africa, was specifically recommended for the mission by his wife, a CIA employee, contrary to what he has said publicly.
