    They are using lasers now?

They used to be LEDs and a camera tracking the movement by capturing images rapidly and comparing them to the previous ones.

Interesting. I wonder how many kids are going to go blind because of these new mice ;)

Well, Microsoft says they are using lasers...don't argue. They might shoot you in the eye with them ;)

This is where I purchased my Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical. It's brand new, but OEM, so you don't get the box. Who cares! IT has the USB>PS/2 adapter too.

good price if you want to buy in bulk of 100+

Got a link to the tech specs that states they are using lasers perhaps? I'd like to check it out.

Heh, maybe because it doesn't actually have a laser in it? I checked the linked document and couldn't find any reference to a laser.

No harm no foul, I was just interested in case they actually did change things. I could smell a lawsuit happening ;)

personally i hate microsoft in everyway possible, but im a hipocrit cuse im not use my linux machiene to post this comment.
anyway, if you are looking for a ball free mouse, go with a logitech, and if youre going to get a optical mouse, go wireless, it is a dream, but if you are a gamer, make sure you have a clear radio signal. also try to use rechargable batteries, it WILL save you in the long run. later...
