Perry, FL police were surprised at who they nabbed during a "Pervs in the Park" sweep this week. McDonalds declined to comment on the matter, saying only: "We may be smiling on the outside but inside we're crying."

I love Microsoft haters, they are so ignorant at times. ;)

You do realize that if it wasn't for what Bill Gates did with Windows, the computer revolution would not have been as fast as it was.

I am a linux user but you must realize a normal user can't just sit down and install and use linux. Even the newest versions with great installers and GUIs are still no match for the simplicity of Windows. And it was the influx of what I like to call "stupid users" that created the demand for PCs that has brought prices down to what they are now.

I know Bill Gates is the true ruler of this world, so I hope he doesn't read your post and go after you!

The computer industry was just waiting for a good OS to come out and play. Bill gates got a empty hot plate, put something good on it, and served it to the world. If Xerox had done a better job at commercializing its windows based system maybe they would have been leading the community now. Unfortunately they didn't and as a result their engineers quit and took up with microsoft. Look where microsoft is now. Point being anyone that came up with something that didn't totally suck would have done just as good.

"And it was the influx of what I like to call "stupid users" that created the demand for PCs that has brought prices down to what they are now. " - I couldn't agree more!

And I don't hate microsoft, I just like Linux more.

"I know Bill Gates is the true ruler of this world" - I'd like to hear what his wife has to say about that! :D

The guy has donated a TON of money, 23 Billion I think. If he were to be knighted for something, it should be that and not for the impact his business has had on Britian.

    Indeed.

Also they need to consider that while Billy gave away billions to charities for a tax writeoff, he still gave it away.

He/MS is also wiring new schools etc. and pushing/dragging us further along than we could have hoped for with a commodore 64 (yes blasphemy.)

Don't like the practices but he has done some good.

Microsoft owned the OS for the C64 as well!

At what point? The first time I ever heard of MS was MS DOS.

Bill Gates has, albeit shrewdly, lived the American Dream to its fullest. He's gone from, well, not exactly poor, more like well off, to REDICULOUSLY well off.
Anyways, what he is most likely being knighted for is not just the charitable acts he's performed, but those he has yet to perform. In his will, his kids are all left "only" one million dollars, and the rest is to charity. And for someone whose assets measure into the billions, that's an assload of money. He's a good man at heart. Sort of. At least he's not as bad as Gary Winston...

Interesting, what version of basic? I don't remember running a form of basic anything like the c64's dos system.
