At this year's Computer Electronics Show (the big bang of new PC products), what could probably be called the stupidest technological idea ever has been debuted. Are you ready for this? A digital camera...that looks like a gun. [link] Yes, you just point the "camera" at someone and pull the trigger and boom! instant digital photo. I can't imagine what kind of idiot would spend money on this sort of thing, but I can only imagine the fun that could be had bringing it on plane, to presidential rallies or preschool plays...

OK, even with the bright blue buttons someone might confuse it with a real gun...

But they're just trying to introduce the art of photography to the hip-hop / inner-city crowd; do you think any of those people know how to aim a camera? :D

I read a story a few years ago about a kid who painted his red Sega Gensis gun controller black and cut the cord off. He was walking down a street that cops had been having robbery problems with and they pulled their guns on him. Mistaking them for his buddies who he was playing with he did the same and a cop shot him.

Carrying a fake gun is almost always a bad idea.

That's true, but what if it were you, and you mistook the officer for someone who intened you harm and you mistakeningly shot him.

Of course, I'd hope that before anyone tries to kill someone they double check and make sure that they want to kill for keeps.
