According to this news there is a new variant of Blaster spreading fast. What does it do? Find a computer with the vulnerability and patch it. Yes, some even say that it works better than windows update. I wouldn't rely much on this because it could be causing some problems somewhere else. Go get your patch kids at [link]

yea. i saw this on symantec this morning. the W32.Welchia.Worm. I just envision these two superheroes with nearly the same super powers battling each other. It checks your version, downloads the DCOM RPC patch, installs it, reboots your computer, then it checks to see if the year is 2004... and if it is, deletes itself. crazy. hacking for the power of good.

I hope it does only that....you know it could let some port open somewhere or do something so the person who created the virus use other computers in remote form...the virus could be some kind of client waiting for some signal or some on certain port...you never know

FDOT still hasn't gotten rid of all the instances of the MSBlaster Worm. Maybe they should let Welchia loose.
