A second installment with more questions than answers!
Ok, like every good fanboy I saw it opening day. It is the kind of film that almost has the "StarWars" feel to it. It isn't really relevent to you life, or reality for that matter, yet you just have to know what happens!
For starters, this one was certainly a faster paced film. They had alot less backround info to provide so they were able to keep a solid pace. Great action sequences that I'm sure will be copied by future films were an added suprise. I was happy to see that the style and tone of the first film was preserved. Even though 1 and 2 are a few years apart it felt seemless in it's presentation. Throughout the film are little easter eggs(lines of dialogue, set design...) that lead you to more questions than answers. I really enjoyed trying to figure it all out even while I was watching the film! Lets run the numbers:
plot: 8..... Very intriguing, drawing you in as good as the first!
dialogue: 7...Added to the mystery nicely, sometimes "big" words were added only for effect it seems.
action: 9...Incredible sequences that are beautiful cinematicaly as well!
acting: 6.5...Like StarWars it isn't that difficult with such good material.
direction 8.5...They edited together a very tidy film!
overall: 8...Definately a must see for any fan of the first(watch it first)
Bottom Line: Get there early, but finish your popcorn during the previews. You shouldn't miss a minute.
Till next time...
I can't wait till November!
