I havn't seen it yet (i'm lame) but I've heard from more than a few people that it was too much for them to sort out. ie: they were lost.

this installment to the matrix epic has been a bit "overdone". the watchowski brothers are merly taking most of the best parts of the first, and including them into this film at a very large rate. for example, the movie starts out with the passing code as seen by neo in the end of the first when he is reborn. the is also an overuse of bullet time and a bad characture called the Meril linchien. also ther is a guest appearance by colonel sanders twords the end. with all these strokes against the film it's length adds something of a lawerence of arbia quality to it by being 235 min. running time. still the film is quite good. see it twice.

I purposely didn't post a review for this because I don't think any review can do it justice, fair do's your contributing, but this is far too short for such a great film :)

"It isn't really relevant to you life" to an extent this is true, however it gives you more to think about than starwars can, at least in philosophical terms, just as in the film, the matrix is what you make it, if you want thought provoking stuff it's there if you pay attention, if you just want action it's their in bucket loads. "...or reality for that matter" can't tell if this is a pun because I thought that the major point of the film was to question reality and it's relation to our everyday lives?

....I also hate starwars so referencing my fav trilogy to it pissed me off ;)

I only liken it to starwars in my anticipation to see it. Also relevance to my life is not a prerequisite for it to be thought provoking, in which case I agree. I try to be vague with my review on purpose. I wouldn't want to spoil the film for anyone who hasn't seen it. Keeping it short and only commenting on my overall feelings keeps me in check.

p.s. i would love to hear your theory on what might be in store for revolutions..........and yes it was a pun.

that's cool, if your a starwars fan :P

awwwww man revolutions, sooooooooooooooo many possibilities, I reckon agent smith is gonna be a key factor in either saving or destroying (more obviously) the matrix. I also think that the "real world" will turn out to be something else, some sort of control mechanism maybe? I dunno the possibilities are endless really, one of the things that makes it so good!

I am toying with this concept: Perhaps the real world we see now is a sublevel of the construct. Which leads me to conclude that this failsafe level is in place for all who may become self aware. Which most would be self-content to live in zion, ect.. But for that.01 % who are capable of neo's level of control, programs like morpheous are sent by oracle to locate him and bring him through the path of the one, meant to occupy or distract him. Smith's presence in Zion is what seems to make neo's instance diffrent from the previous six. Can't wait til November!

aside from the gratuitous sex scene and the massive orgy/rave/temple worship thing, it was a very excellent movie. hopefully it will all just be one chapter on the DVD when it comes out so i can skip right past it and continue with the actual meaningful parts of the movie.

A little eyecandy isn't so bad. At least it wasn't full on porn. I thought those were the parts everyone rewinds...not forwards through. :D

I actually really liked that scene, I think I'm about the only person who did. The way I see it, if they are going to do a sex scene, I prefer they do it like that than have some pansy ass one with romantic music playing throughout.

I'll bet half the people that saw it didn't get the point, or message of even plot of it all. I haven't seen it yet, and I bet when I do, I won't totally understand alot of it either. But, of course, that is what makes a movie fun, you actually have to think a little bit, and the storyline isn't one of those cheesy reused ones. It makes you question reality, which can be quite entertaining if you have an imagination. ;)

Don't you hate that? You go to a movie and people are walking out saying, "aww that sucked," simply because they had use their imagination about what happened. People are so lazy that they won't even use their brains anymore. I like movies that are created the way books are written; you have interpret what it means yourself.

The agents looked more buff because they were "upgrades."
    Weren't you paying attention?

the movie............ included a approx. 10 min of a party scene and partially a sex scene.... its kinda weird knowing it practically has nothing to do with the movie ( the party scene) and the whole superman thing was kinda annoying too

OK. I know. Matrix: Reloaded is basically the first half of a larger film. Revolutions will come out in November and the circle will be complete. I’ll be happy and dance with the underground people.

That said, I did not like Matrix: Reloaded. Well, let’s just say I was very disappointed.

It started off right at the beginning. In the original Matrix, you are immediately dumped into the movie. The wall of encryption with the v.o. on the phone and you’re in. With Reloaded, you sit through three minutes of credits and then you are dumped into an action scene (dream sequence) that has no reference points.

The whole bit about the “upgrades” just about made me throw up. Sure it was a funny one-liner. It even sells the concept that this is a fluid mix of reality and matrix. But heck, even in the first two minutes of Neo realizing he was The One, he kicked Smith’s ass one handed. Now he’s got a few months of training under his belt and he should be a god. But instead he mutters “Upgrades” and fights for minutes instead of seconds. Upgraded agents should have been able to kick any normal person’s ass. But Morpheous holds off his agent on the highway. That’s just crap.

The gang fight scene between Neo and the Smiths’ (Smithese? Smiths’ss’?) though fun to watch was a bit over the top. You think he’d be able to kill at least one of them and have them revert back to the person Smith took over. But no. They all live. You‘d also think they’d travel around in a big gang taking over the whole Matrix. If there were 100 Smith’s there, exponentially they should have taken over LA in about two days.

The highway scene had some kick ass camera work, but knowing that it was shot on the same one mile stretch of staged highway ruined it. I kept looking for and seeing the same damn road features over and over.

    Ghosts? Shit.

The scene with the Architect sucked. I thought I was watching the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey. And don’t worry, I get it. I get what they are trying to do. I just think someone got to the last sheet of script writing paper and said, “Well crap, I’d better wrap this up quickly.”

There are several other bits that I don’t need to get into because even those folks who really liked the movie didn’t like those areas either. (Dance scene, puppy dog kid, the spoon girl gift line, basically anything that happened in Zion.)

My final gripe is that whatever or whomever is running the matrix is using all the tools in their bag of tricks. In the first movie, it was possible for the matrix to be changed in an instant (i.e. the hotel architecture is changed so their escape route is cut off.) That’s a pretty damn powerful tool. I did not see that used at all in the second film. (Or should I call it the 1 ½ movie.)

One last note: Just as I hope with Star Wars 3, I hope they can pull this last movie out of the hole they have dug. I hope Revolutions is the better second half to a crappier first half. I hope. I don’t think there is much of a chance.

PS I thought the Superman thing is pretty damn funny. I’d do the same thing.

Although I don't completely agree with you, you do make some valid points. There were a lot of plot holes and it could have been a lot better. Let's just hope Revolutions kicks ass.
And for the record, I liked the Zion dance scene.

here's the deal on the sex scene, folks.

it's based on philosophic references. it holds significance in establishing the characters. neo and trinity make love under an arch. that is meant to signify they are divine beings. the rave with the sex and so forth was to contrast the divine\true love with profane love. i actually did my research and read about this. i recommend that people like most on this message post do the same...before shooting your keyfingers off into grammatically incorrect frenzies.
