It was New Years Day when a family was on their knees being cuffed for a crime they didn't commit. Then the family dog jumped out of the car and was shot. [

In the video, just before the shooting, the family can be heard asking the officers to close the car door to prevent their bulldog Patton from jumping out.
It was Cookeville Police Officer Eric Hall who shot the dog. He said he felt threatened.
Cookeville Police Chief Bob Terry,"We were under the assumption, wrong though that may have been, that there was a possible felony that may have been committed. They didn't have the luxury of the time to make a determination. Their primary concern was people and not the animals. "
Hall has now been taken off the streets while an independent investigation sorts things out.
