Great bloody mercy! Utter stupidity has a new name, and it's name is John Yatt. This is the same astoundingly "perceptive" fellow who "caught" the subtle racism in the new Star Wars movies. He is convinced that Lord of the Rings is all about white vs. black, and no amount logic or common sense will make him think otherwise. [
link] He said that since the book and movies have the orcs portrayed and described as "dark" (ignoring the fact that they are both dark GREEN and GRAY) and the elves as white that it MUST be about race. Could it be ... possibly that not every damn mention of the colors black and white refer to race, and might actually be about the colors black and white??? Not hardly according to this shmuck.
Try to ignore my bias and the fact that I'm wearing Gandalf underwear right now, and really think about it. The colors of black and white are historically associated with good and evil. There's not a damn stick of logical evidence that it ALWAYS means black and white folks. Are the flesh tones of black people really even black? No, of course not, they are a very dark brown. Are the flesh tones of white people really even white? No again, they are various shades of pink, and olive if you have a good tan. I got pretty miffed when they said Star Wars was trying to turn kids into Nazis, but now your touching my Lord of the Rings, and that's just some unforgivable shit!
I wish there was a Movie-Idiocy catagory.
