In September, Michel Fournier, a 58-year-old retired French army officer, will attempt to find out what it's like to go faster than the speed of sound with nothing but a parachute stapped to his back [link] The training involved is absolutely mind boggling, mental as well as physical. At an of 131,200 feet, he will leap from his craft to begin a six-minute descent that will see him reaching supersonic speeds between 745 and 1,000 mph. SIX MINUTE !!! The last person to try (and fail) was a NJ truck driver in 1965. I can't wait to see how this pans out.

i see skin floating to the ground followed by entrails etc etc. he will fail. he'll suffer hypoxia in the first couple of minutes and when he gets clost the half the speed of sound he' won't be able to breath anymore because of the air being forecd into his lungs and a horrible capacity. provided he hasn't suffocated from the lack of breathable air.
