In short, on the Iran front, we need to figure out just how far we're willing to go, and just go there, rather than dicking around in either direction. And not just with Iran: the nuclear genie's about to come out of the bottle for good, and we need to decide whether we'd be smarter to combat proliferation with all possible means, or accept world-wide mutually-assured destruction.

Our economy needs to learn with oil costing what it actually should, given its actual scarcity in the actual world. Instead, the fact that most of the world's oil supply is concentrated in a few hands makes it seem artificially cheap, because those countries can sell it to us for less than its true value and use the windfall to invest in solar.
